Job Description

We seek an experienced Intellectual Property & Patent Lawyer to oversee and manage the legal aspects of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets within our telecommunications and distribution company. This role requires patent prosecution, licensing, litigation, and IP strategy expertise to safeguard our innovations, products, and services. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and in-house US Patent attorney, to ensure compliance with intellectual property laws and to develop a robust IP portfolio.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and protect the company's patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and oversee the patent application process in coordination with external patent attorneys.
  • Handle IP licensing agreements, including negotiations and drafting.
  • Monitor and enforce IP rights, ensuring protection against infringement.
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international patent laws, including USPTO, WIPO, and other relevant authorities.
  • Work with regulatory bodies to secure necessary patents, trademarks, and approvals for innovative technologies.
  • Develop and implement IP strategies aligned with the company’s business goals.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Evaluate and mitigate IP risks related to product development, supply chain, and distribution.
  • Handle IP disputes, patent infringement cases, and litigation in collaboration with external legal counsel.
  • Represent the company in IP-related disputes, mediations, or arbitrations.
  • Monitor industry competitors for potential IP violations or infringements.
  • Work closely with R&D, engineering, product development, and marketing teams to identify and protect innovations.
  • Educate employees on IP policies, best practices, and patent filing procedures.
  • Collaborate with external legal teams, patent examiners, and government agencies.


Requirements:

  • Philippine Bar passer
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in IP and patent law, preferably in the telecommunications and distribution industry.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international patent law and licensing.
  • Excellent contract negotiation, drafting, and risk assessment skills.
